Update 3/1/2023: The first study measuring CBD vape on human cells was completed. The study indicates that vaping CBD (with an MCT oil carrier) could be harmful to lung cells. It would be safer to assume that vaping CBD does carry negative health risks, and to look for alternative methods of delivery, like our water soluble CBD, for example.
Vaping is hitting the news hard negatively, for good concern. The concerns are viable as Juul and more vape companies grow at an explosive pace. Is it too early to say that all vape is bad for you? Here’s what we know and don’t know.
UPDATE: Some cases directly linked to a specific brand of vape found to contain no CBD but full of synthetic marijuana as reported on USA Today.
The CDC’s initial warnings were to avoid off the street vape products in response to a growing number of reported lung related illnesses. No quality control is done on these, no COAs are available, and no entity is held responsible for the ingredients. (Avoiding off the street vape is a no-brainer)

Vape additives pose danger
When heated and vaporized, some compounds can act as irritants, inflammatory agents, or directly cause lung disease. If a pull is too hot, any vape can cause slight burning in the lungs which will elicit an inflammatory response
- Vitamin E Acetate is under scrutiny as one of the common ingredients found in the samples the FDA tested from users who fell ill from vaping. (No Vitamin E Acetate in our cartridges). (Researches found that Vitamin E when heated forms a toxic, sometimes fatal ketene gas)
- Diacetyl and other flavorings can contribute to a permanent and potentially life threatening lung disease
- Even propylene glycol, a common additive to vape juice to bring out flavor, can cause problems with the lungs according to one recent study. It may be wise to avoid both VG & PG in your vape products. (No PG / VG / MCT in our vape cartridges)
Go as clean as you can get
There’s no studies or evidence on cannabinoids themselves causing danger to the lungs in their vaporized form and may not be for some time as the majority of the industry uses PG / VG or some MCT as a base.
Update:
If you don’t want the added risks of filler and additives, go with a vape cartridge that is as clean as possible. Consider our CBD cartridges – they’re additive free and completely lab tested to contain only natural cannabinoids and terpenes, not even PG / VG or MCT oil. Or for a similar, quick and powerful absorption like vape, water soluble CBD is a good alternative.
