Sure you can – we have many customers who use CBD for their cats. There’s been one study to date that we’re aware of exploring CBD ingestion safety for cats, demonstrating that cannabinoids like CBD can be administered to cats. In this study, they measured cats’ side effects to CBD, THC, and a combination of THC + CBD, and researchers documented that there were only mild side effects (higher amount of side effects in the THC group). So yes, CBD appears to have a very good safety profile for cat use.

These say “hemp chews” – is that the same thing as CBD?

Yes, these contain about 0.3mg of CBD per treat. We’ve trended towards the usage of terms ‘hemp supplement’ and ‘hemp chews’ to describe our products, even though they contain CBD, it’s a more accurate description of the properties of the hemp flower and origins of the products we use. So we describe these as both CBD cat treats and hemp chews as both terms are accurate.

How much CBD can I give my cat?

In the study mentioned above, the researchers went as high in their dosage as 30.5 mg per kilogram daily of the cat’s body weight, which equates to 135mg of CBD per day for a 10lb cat. You shouldn’t need to give your cat nearly that much, but we recommend starting with 10 – 12 treats per day – if your cat is smaller, go a little less than that or vice-versa. For a better value and higher serving for your cat, you could also consider mixing our pet CBD oil with your cat’s daily food (we find sometimes cats can be picky, however).
